As Community Roots takes on the important role of providing breakfast and lunch to students across our community, we are fortunate to have many experienced and dedicated staff join us from the school sites and legacy production kitchens. Two such employees joining us from Grass Valley School District Child Nutrition Services include Angie McFall and Jeremy Colbert, pictured here with GVSD Superintendent Andrew Withers during an appreciation event at the end of last school year.
Angie McFall has been working in the school food world for 10 years, first at Scotten and Gilmore school sites and for the past 8 years at Grass Valley Central Kitchen. Angie has joined Community Roots as the Administrative Services Technician, continuing her work providing customer service to school sites and office support. Angie enjoys this work because for her it’s all about the kids, and she’s happy to use her skills as a people person to be a part of bringing them nutritious meals.
Jeremy Colbert has also been a part of Grass Valley Central Kitchen for 10 years, starting as a driver and always showing a willingness to take on more responsibility as the need and opportunity presented. Most recently Jeremy stepped up and provided critical interim kitchen manager support for much of the past school year. As the Community Roots Culinary Center Production Manager, he is excited to work to bring better, fresher food to kids. Jeremy remembers school meals from when he was a student here locally and is looking forward to being a part of bringing better quality food to students today.
We are grateful to Jeremy, Angie, and many others for bringing their experience and passion to Community Roots and we look forward to working together to nourish Nevada County students with fresh, locally sourced meals!
